ReachOut Schools Program

ReachOut Schools provides educational resources, digital tools and practical tips for young people, parents and educators to encourage the development of positive mental health and wellbeing across the school setting. A whole school approach provides an opportunity for staff, students, parents and service providers to play a part in shaping the school culture through their attitudes, beliefs and behaviours around mental health. ReachOut Schools is the only program that provides digital mental health and wellbeing self-help to young people, parents and schools. It also works to support young people to develop ongoing strategies to manage their mental health and wellbeing, not just when they are experiencing a tough time.

Key objectives:

  • Ensure all young people in schools are aware of ReachOut.com and how to access this service for help seeking and mental health and wellbeing support.
  • Young people are given the opportunity to develop & practise using the skills required to improve their mental health and wellbeing
  • Provide opportunities for young people to be active participants in promoting mental health and wellbeing in their schools by putting forward their views, concerns and ideas around mental health and wellbeing.
  • Ensure all educators have access to information and resources that are linked to curriculum areas and/or are designed to meet their schools wellbeing needs.
  • Ensure all educators have access to the ReachOut Schools support network that promotes collaboration and a space for shared knowledge and understanding.
  • Encourage schools to see themselves as leaders and advocates for social change with mental health & wellbeing.
  • Ensure all parents have access to information and support to better understand and support their child's mental health & wellbeing.
